Notes :
(1) Trains 1, 2 & 3 via RH line outside Loco Shed - Trains 4, 5, 6 & 7
via LH line outside Loco Shed.
(1b) An extra chain travelled on trip 3 due to taking the wrong route and
setting back in the depot vicinity.
(2) Normal “Outer”/“Up” line between South End of Medium Section Mill
and crossover near Gate “A” temporarily out of use – diverted via
“Inner”/“Down” line.
(3) Trains 1, 3 & 4 via RH line outside Slab Bay - Trains 2, 5, 6 & 7
via LH line outside Slab Bay.
(4) 71 (Corus Hunslet Bo-Bo Loco) (HE 7282/1972) (with 9? flats) attached at
Dawes Lane to the rear, thus sandwiching ARNOLD MACHIN in the middle of the
formation, until the stop at the East end of the Mould Shop.
The mileage for this part of Tour 7(d) was 2.08 miles, (2m06ch). There was some
speculation as to whether 71 was assisting . The first part was mainly level,
with a falling gradient on Plate Iron Hill, but the GPS does show a climb of
about 40 feet between the West end of the Mould Shop and the point of detachment
at it's East end, (approx 0.33m/27ch), and it would be unlikely that DL2 would
have managed the whole formation on it's own, even on the relatively level
sections. ARNOLD MACHIN was probably assisting too, where necessary.

71 is seen on the rear of train 7 - by the look of the exhaust it looks like
a
very valid question as to whether it assisted or not (photo: Ken Reynolds)
