(2) Alan Chilestone comments: Originally 2 trips advertised in NENTA’s 2006 Brochure. The first, due to run on 29th April was postponed due to engineering works on the Great Western making the tour impossible. The rescheduled date of 29th July 2006 was considered too close to run another tour as originally planned on 9th September, so this September tour was cancelled. The 29th July tour was subsequently cancelled with less than a weeks notice as the timings were considered unsatisfactory. Engineering work on the GEML meant the return train would stop short at Ipswich with buses to ferry passengers to Norwich. The booked return time to Ipswich was around 01.00 on the Sunday morning. Coupled with the extremely hot weather and the unreliability of FM rail’s air conditioning (now improved I am told) NENTA took the unprecedented decision to cancel.
