(4) Part of a three-day "Steam Extravaganza" to mark the 100th
Birthday of Bowring Park, in the 800th birthday year of the City of
Liverpool (trains also ran on 9th & 12th June). This day saw shuttles to
Roby to mark the 100th Birthday of Bowring Park, in the 800th
Birthday of the City of Liverpool. "Alight at Roby station to enjoy the superb
100th Birthday Steam & Vintage Fayre and Jubilation Gala in Bowring
Park". "All because Alderman William Benjamin bowring JP bought the 100 acre
Roby Hall estate in January 1906 and a year later presented it to the City of
Liverpool, on the 12th June 1907, "for the use of the people for all
time" still upheld by the present trustees, Knowsley Borough."
