lighting etc) being lost.

started to provide banking assistance.

A mammoth day out with disaster trying to strike at every turn. The failure of 47851 on the outward leg left 47826 struggling over Wrangaton Summit. However the engine was sorted at Laira for the return journey as it was required for the run round in Liverpool Street. Whilst at Laira the engines were turned, but marshalled to be in the same order with 47851 leading for the double headed return. Just as well as it was also needed to provide banking when 47826 slipped to a stand on Graham road curve, due to a combination of wet and greasy rails (one train over the curve in the last week?) and a 1 in 38 incline. The driver made valiant and dramatic attempts to restart the train but to no avail so 47851 was restarted This did mean less time was needed for the run round in Liverpool Street so we were able to leave close to time. It was decided to keep 47826 running for the leg to Norwich to power the ETH and train circuits, as when 47851 failed, these circuits died also.
