Notes .
(1) Substituting for failed 6024.
(2) Nick Bartlett comments: I passed this train at Crowcombe on its inward
working from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead, and it had 60019, 67030 and 67026 all
on the front. As it pulled away I could hear the A4 and the sound of one or more
class 67s (chime whistle and spin dryer).
(3) 67030 was reported as dead-in-tow (on the WSR at least - was it used on the
return leg at all?).
(4) Gordon Lacy comments: Running this train caused utter chaos to an already
ambitious WSR gala timetable. John Clifford adds: The West Somerset was already
running late due to problems earlier in the day. The train I was on arrived at
Bishops Lydeard at 1802 (40 late) & the charter was behind us & due there at
1800. I understand that the train did not stop at Bishops Lydeard to pick up
passengers as expected which caused further delays. There were problems on the
main line with a track circuit failure near Castle Cary. I heard that the train
got to Cambridge about 2 hours late.
