(4) John Clifford comments: The original advertised route was via Market Harborough both ways and it was to go to Manchester Piccadilly via the Hope Valley route. The tickets arrived on this basis. A few days before the tour Network Rail found that there was a gauging problem near Market Harborough so that the train had to run via Corby. Additionally the engine was out of gauge on the Hope Valley line. Hence we went to Sheffield. The thought on the train was that it should be renamed 'The Master Cutler'! On the day the train ran well for most of the day but the timing seemed rather 'tight' in parts so we got to Sheffield just over half an hour late.
