(2) John Clifford comments: This was the second of two trips that day using 'Tornado'. When it was first advertised the route was to be as shown to Ashford, then Hastings - Tunbridge Wells - Tonbridge & back to Victoria via the outward route. Engineering work between Tunbridge Wells & Wadhurst meant that it was amended to the one shown above. Coaches were provided at Swanley to get passengers back to East Croydon, Redhill, Edenbridge & Tonbridge. On the outward journey there was a short stop before Headcorn caused by trespassers on the line. The water stop at Canterbury took longer than expected (I didn't establish why) but some good running saw us claw back the minutes & get back to Victoria on time even though an extra stop was made at Faversham for passengers to get off if needed.
