Birmingham International
– Chesterfield – Beighton Jn – Sheffield (reverse) then a pair of class 20s to
Carlisle. Due to vandalism that had resulted in a preceding train striking
debris on the line the train was diverted between Birmingham & Burton, losing
close to 2 hours at a very early stage. The delay had been reduced to 70 minutes
at Chesterfield, and to recover more time it was routed direct from Chesterfield
to Sheffield and on to Leeds (including a diversion in the Wakefield Area) with 57002 + 47851 leading throughout and 20301 +
20304 on the rear. Reversal was instead at Leeds, with the 20s leading to
Carlisle.
