(1) 5690 replaced originally advertised 46115.
(2) Banked by 47760 from Glasgow Queen Street to Cowlairs North Jn.
(3) Nick Wason comments: 45407 failed to reach Tyndrum Summit on the first
attempt. After setting back to Tyndrum Lower the second attempt was successful.
(4) Loco propelling.
(5) 45407 failed to reach Glencruitten Summit so set-back to Oban where
departure was delayed until assistance arrived in the shape of 61994. 61994 is RA6, so special clearance was given at short notice for it to run to
Oban, which is RA5. Tour departed Oban at 20.41 (6h 23mins late!).
(6) 45407 was running low on coal
by Crianlarich, where it was detached. 47760 was sent Light Engine from Cadder Yard to
assist, but wasn't attached to the train until Garelochhead. Prior to that
however, further problems were encountered on the climb to Glen Douglas summit
where 61994 stalled. After a few failed attempts to restart the train, members
of the support crew sanded the rails for around ¼
mile. 61994 then successfully restarted the train and continued towards Glasgow,
picking up 47760 at Garelochhead. 47760 assisted from the rear in certain
locations. The tour eventually arrived Glasgow Queen Street 03.11 (8h 14mins
late).
