(3) As originally booked (for 26/09) the train would have returned to London Waterloo. 44932 also replaced the advertised use of 34067 'Tangmere' (outward) and 30777 'Sir Lamiel' (return).
(4) David Sheppard comments: Due to the stock being incorrectly formed with an unplanned reduction in standard class seats, some passengers received an upgrade to first class. Shortly before arrival at Swanage it was announced that the departure time would be 17.15, not 17.00. Reversal at Southampton on the return run was in the platform 1, not as suggested by earlier published timings in the Up Goods Loop, and the diesel was detached. Departure from Southampton was delayed, while the platform signal went to green and back to red, by efforts to fix a lighting failure in one of the coaches.
