(1) John Clifford comments: This tour was due to be hauled by 46201 'Princess Elizabeth' but this loco as unavailable. Apart from the E.C.S. arriving late the outward train ran without problem. On the return it was found at the Bootham water stop that a lubrication pipe had broken. The train was taken slowly into York. Here one of the support crew went to the museum to get a replacement from 34051 'Winston Churchill'. Once the repair had been carried out we set off regaining some of the lost time. By not taking water at Denton the rest of the lost time was recovered. An 'on time' arrival at Crewe would have been possible had we not been stopped outside.
