(1) 67026 on rear.
(2) John Clifford comments: Over running engineering work in the South Acton area caused the diversions. I believe that the return working was also diverted. This also meant that the E.C.S. was late, not arriving at Alton until 09.12. The Mid Hants Railway provided a train to bring Alresford passengers to Alton. This meant that there was a late start and with the diversion, arrival at Ely was half an hour late. In turn this delayed the return working. The wait in Temple Mills loop to attach 67026, further added to the delays.
