(3) John Clifford comments: This tour commemorated 50 years since
the last run of 'The Atlantic Coast Express' on 5th September 1964. The original
plan was to have 35028 'Clan Line' from London Waterloo to Exeter St Davids, and
then 34067
'Tangmere' + 70000 'Britannia' from Exeter St Davids to Penzance. However, due to a change
in the Train Operating Company it eventually became what is shown above. Whilst
in Penzance there were optional visits to the Bodmin & Wenford Railway, the
Lost Gardens of Heligan, Padstow for lunch at Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant,
or the Scilly Isles including a visit to the Abbey Gardens at Trecso. There was
also a 'Branch Line Tour Experience' on 07/09/14, using a DMU. Details of this are shown
separately. The outward journey ran well until we caught up a late running Cross
Country train west of Truro causing a 10 minutes late arrival at Penzance.

John Clifford comments: The original plan had been to take the engines to Plymouth and turn them on the triangle there. The timings issued suggest that the support coach was to have been taken, though this might have been the whole train. Anyway these are the timings with what, I believe would have happened.
