Notes : 
(1) John Clifford comments: On the outward run we should have been held at Ipswich for the 09.30 Liverpool Street - Norwich to pass us. It was slightly late so we were held at East Suffolk Jn and followed it to Norwich. The stop at Wroxham was to let the 11.44 Sheringham - Norwich pass and at Cromer we were due to wait for the 12.47 Sheringham - Norwich to pass. However I subsequently discovered that its down working (11.45 Norwich - Sheringham) was behind us and was terminating at Cromer with the 12.47 starting from there.After a break the journey resumed back to Hastings. At Cromer we found that there was still some late running on the branch. We waited for the 15.45 Norwich - Sheringham before resuming 11 minutes late. At Norwich we were let out in front of the 17.35 Norwich - Cambridge. A signal check at Ely North Jn and another one just outside Cambridge caused more delays. However, we left Cambridge before the 18.54 Cambridge - Kings Cross stopper and by omitting the Royston stop made up some time. We were booked on the up slow line from Digswell Jn and were due to be immediately behind the 19.33 Welwyn Garden City - Moorgate. As we were still late we didn’t catch up the 19.33 until after Potters Bar. I left the train at Kensington Olympia which was reached slightly early.
