(3) David Lodwick comments: Everything went fine until the return journey, as Dore South Jn was O.O.U. we were diverted into Sheffield through line to reverse. 67015 was then shut down and we proceeded with 67029 leading. We were 38 minutes late at Chesterfield, then we experienced juddering under braking, obviously something was amiss. We went inside at Morton Jn, to stop and examine the train, as we had set off a hot box detector. Dragging brakes on the rear loco was suspected. The Driver could find nothing wrong. We set off again, now 65 minutes late. However we did not get far, only as far as Blackwell South Jn, where we stopped to examine again. After talking to the Motive Power Controller, it was agreed we would dump the rear loco at Toton. We left Blackwell South Jn 106 minutes late, and experienced no further problems. Arrival at Toton was 143 minutes late. This is where 67015 was taken off for dragging brakes, and an air leak on 67029 was rectified. We left Toton 174 minutes late. Arrived Finsbury Park at 00.33, 141 minutes late.
