(1) 47746 assisting on rear, due to fire risk in hot weather.

(3) This leg of the tour was originally advertised to run to Oban, hauled by Black 5s 44871 & 45407.
(4) Geoff Brockett comments: Wednesday was the optional day and the originally advertised return steam to Oban, but ended up as steam to Fort William and diesel return. We now encountered the only operational incident of the tour when it was discovered that the hand brake had been left on on 62005’s support coach. As a result it had to be removed from the E.C.S. at Bo’ness and all the tools etc. transferred to the BSK. This delay meant that the E.C.S. didn’t arrive at Glasgow Queen Street until 08.17 for the 07.33 departure and was then not allowed to leave until 09.04. However worse was to come. The fine weather had a sting in its tail as the previous day’s 'Jacobite' had started two fires and we were required to have 47746 on the back. In fact 62005 was on the front for little more than cosmetic reasons, with the Cl.47 doing virtually all the work. The diesel power meant our arrears was down to 38 minutes by Fort William.
