(1) D9009 'Alycidon' replaced unavailable D1015 'Western Champion'.
(2) Nigel Benning comments: Originally the return leg from Shrewsbury was advertised as being south along the Marches line though Ludlow, Hereford and Abergavenny, but engineering work would not permit this and a new route advertised. Departure from Burton-on-Trent was delayed whilst 5366 was shunted onto the stock at the Nemesis depot. The train failed to stop at Northfield to set down passengers on the return journey. Instead we stopped at Kings Norton, but as there is no usable platform on the planned route via Bordesley Jn. we diverted via Birmingham New Street (non-stop). Having missed 40 minutes of pathing stops due to this diversion, we were 25 minutes early at Landor Street Jn. However, we were held prior to Water Orton, but arrived back at Burton-on-Trent 8 minutes early.
