(1) Tour postponed from 03/07/21.
(2) 17096 was only in the consist when 35028 was on the train.
(3) 35028 carried a headboard in memory of Andy Davies 1941-2021, Chief Engineer of the Merchant Navy Locomotive Preservation Society.
(4) John Clifford's comments: I joined and left this tour at Kensington Olympia. We left there 38 minutes late. I understand that there were a number reasons for the lateness. The train had been misrouted at Gloucester which meant a late departure. At Swindon the train was held at allow the 05.58 Swansea - London Paddington to get ahead, then the train was looped at Wantage Road to let the 06.48 Cheltenham Spa - London Paddington to overtake. From Reading the train was behind the 05.35 Whatley Quarry - Hothfield which in turn was behind the 08.35 Reading - London Paddington stopper. We managed to cut down the time needed for the loco change in Battersea Loop and, once out on the main line we were diverted via Penge East instead of Catford. We were checked before Shortlands Jn. The 35 minutes late departure from Battersea Loop became a 17 minutes late departure from Bromley South. The rest of the run to Margate was achieved without problems and we reached there only 8 minutes late. The train was booked to shunt from Platform no.1 at Margate to Platform no.4 for servicing but this did not happen and servicing was carried out in platform no.1. The return working left on time and, for the part that I was on, followed other trains. Just after Sandwich we caught up the 15.25 Ramsgate - London Charing Cross. A wait at Dover Priory allowed the 15.50 Ramsgate - London Charing Cross to get ahead. This checked us a few times. At Paddock Wood the watering took longer than allowed for. Around Polhill we caught up the 17.51 Tunbridge Wells - London Charing Cross, then after Kent House we caught up the 18.23 Orpington - London Victoria.
