(3) John Clifford's comments: This was one of four trips run prior to Christmas. The others were on 13th, 14th & 22nd December. Each consisted of four journeys. I travelled on the late afternoon 'Santa Steam Express' and the 'Christmas Steam Express', although I did see the early afternoon 'Santa Steam Express' leave and arrive back at London Victoria.
The late afternoon 'Santa Steam Express' left London Victoria on time. There was the usual stop at Longhedge Jn, this time to let the 14.04 Dalston Junction - Clapham Junction and the 14.45 Clapham Junction - Dalston Junction pass. We passed Kew New Jn 7 minutes early and we, therefore, stopped at South Acton Jn to let the 15.08 Richmond - Stratford pass, which we followed. Arrival at Willesden South West Sidings was early. A quick reversal ensued, but we were held at Acton Wells Jn for our booked time. During the wait I saw two trains going to Richmond and a set of E.C.S. and a Light Engine going in the direction of South Acton. Two trains went the other way. We got away behind the 15.00 Stratford - Richmond. After taking water we followed the 15.15 London Waterloo - London Waterloo via Twickenham and Brentford and continued to London Victoria arriving a few minutes late.
