(3) John Clifford's comments: We left London Victoria slightly late behind the 09.42 Victoria - Gillingham, which we followed to Bromley South. After picking up passengers we continued to Petts Wood Jn where we were booked to wait for the 10.08 Charing Cross - Hastings. It duly passed us and we carried on. At Paddock Wood we took the Medway Valley line behind the 11.00 Paddock Wood - Strood. A water stop had originally been arranged at Wateringbury, but this was changed to one near Maidstone West. The water bowser was positioned at the end of Bower Lane in Maidstone. After replenishment we continued to Strood, where we reversed. Now with the diesel hauling we followed the 09.47 Luton - Rainham and then on the Sheerness branch we were behind the 12.23 Sittingbourne - Sheerness. A brief stop at Swale allowed the 12.23 to carry out it's station duties at Queenborough. After a break in Sheerness we continued back to London Victoria. At Queenborough we passed the 13.23 Sittingbourne - Sheerness and then continued onwards. There was a stop at Canterbury East. At Dover Priory we stopped alongside the 15.00 Dover Priory to Charing Cross. It went first and we followed. There was a brief stop at the site of the former Arcliffe Jn, then onwards to the water stop at Folkestone West, which was left a couple of minutes late. We then continued via Maidstone East to the Bromley South stop, which was reached a minute late. We were due to wait there to follow the 15.33 Dover Priory - Victoria. However it was 11 minutes late. We left early and the 15.33 was diverted via Catford. Our arrival back at London Victoria was 1 minute early.
