Notes :
(1) Route & loco confirmation required. Organised for members of
the 'Evening Chronicle' and 'North Mail'. The party, numbering well over 200,
left Newcastle just after midnight and arrived at Southampton Docks shortly
before 10am where a guided tour of the White Star Line ocean liner 'Majestic' was
undertaken. Lunch was taken at the South Western Hotel after which the train went on
to Bournemouth where passengers had 8 hours to explore before the train departed
back to Newcastle.
