(1) Route & traction confirmation required. The third bore of
Woodhead Tunnel was opened on this date by the then transport minister Alan
Lennox-Boyd. It is likely that the train was loco-hauled using an EM1 (class 76)
or EM2 (class 77) - if the latter then it was either E27000 or E27001 as these
were the only two in service on this date.
