(1) Running bunker first.
(2) 69614 was the Liverpool St pilot at the time and so immaculately clean, but suffered a defective steam pipe joint in the smokebox somewhere between Temple Mills Yard and Junction Road Jn en-route to Harrow & Wealdstone, then was failed completely at Watford Junction where it was due to take back over from 41901. 41901 then worked the train onwards whilst  69632 was drafted in as a substitute (itself reported to have been remarkably smart by N7 standards!).
(3) Andrew Fairholm adds: there is a suggestion that 44440 was involved in the Watford area, possibly in assisting the failed 69314 and then hauling to to the shed.
