Brian Basterfield comments: the train left Northfield at 10.55am, called at Kings Norton, Selly Oak, Birmingham New Street, Tamworth High Level, Nottingham Midland (Crew change) then was booked non stop to Lincoln St Marks, though in practice we had two stops for signals. Arrival at Lincoln was at 2.13pm, 2 mins early. The return left Lincoln at 5.40pm, had a crew change stop at Nottingham Midland, then called at Tamworth, Saltley, and Birmingham New Street, where I alighted at 8.14pm. 1 minute early. The load was 10 coaches. The football match was Lincoln City v Aston Villa.
