(1) Regarding this tour Alasdair Renfrew comments: The Bradford Barton book 'Steam in the Western Highlands' shows GNSR 49 'Gordon Highlander' on an excursion to Oban with the two Caledonian coaches and the Pullman observation car which was used on the Oban line in summer.  I saw the train in Oban (where I lived) and believe it was run by the Glasgow University Railway Society.  However, I have no details of timing or route, but thought I should bring this missing tour to your attention.  I have a colour slide of the loco at Oban.  I assume the date in the book is correct.
