Notes :
(1) Advertising stated 'this train is being run for railfans (between the ages
of 11 and 17 years) who wish to join the Progress Chasers' Competition for
1960'. Trip included a view of the marshalling operations at Whitemoor, a visit
to Norwich MPD and a high speed return run. David Parkinson adds: the high speed
run was 2hr timing unfortunately spoiled by a brief signal check. John Debens
adds; Ian Allan ran this 'Progress Chasers' competition for a week in May 1960,
to engage young people in the British Rail Modernisation Programme, to come up
with interesting and innovative ideas. Those who had an idea accepted were
considered a 'Progress Chaser' and awarded at least a badge to recognise their
achievement.
