(1) Brian Basterfield comments: The load was 11 coaches, and we were off to see "The Posh" (Peterborough United) in a F.A. Cup fixture against Aston Villa. I have no departure time from Kings Norton (the train possibly started from Northfield) but arrival at Peterborough North was 12.42pm, 2 minutes late. The same loco worked the return, but I have no times. Departure was probably around 5.30pm. The match was an FA Cup fixture between Peterborough United and Aston Villa, the score was 1-1, the attendance 28,266. Villa won the replay 2-1 on 1st February, when 64,531 spectators were inside Villa Park, and an estimated 30,000 (me included) locked out.
