(3) The covering letter sent out with the tour tickets records a change to the booked timings due to single-line working forced by engineering works between Ashford and Folkestone Central (to those as given below in the timings section). The letter also made the statement 'You will no doubt be pleased to learn that support for this first Continental Rail Tour has far exceeded the expectations of the Rail Tours Committee , and although 350 persons are participating, at least a further 150 have had to be refused'.
