(1) Peter Narramore comments that the train was top-n-tailed by 86 &
87 throughout, adding: 'Empty ironstone wagons were not the cleanest or most
comfortable way to travel in the pouring rain'.
(2) Further details are required of this outing. A published photo shows loco
no.86 (believed to be Peckett 1871 of 1934) crossing Finedon Road,
Wellingborough, on what was
described as a farewell tour of the last open quarry; Finedon No.6 Pit -
understood to have been part of Wellingborough Iron Works.
