Notes :
(1) Rod Miebs comments: This tour was run by the Western Region's London Division. More were run subsequently by Gordon Rushton, but he did not master mind this one. The weather was dry, being sunny at Welford Park for the then permitted walk about. The timings do not show a reversal at Slough after leaving Windsor. This indicates use of the south to west curve coming off the branch. My slides show that DMU set 470 led from Windsor, and that it was the lead set up to Welford Park. As the train was turned by running Reading West to Oxford Rd. my logic is the train would have gone into Slough station after Windsor to equate with this evidence. The timings also do not show a reversal at Cholsey on the return from Wallingford, so one genuine typo. The brief notes with the timings forecast the West London Line had a bright future with the prospect of a channel tunnel terminal. That took more than 30 years to arrive, then only as a depot which has been closed for International trains already.
(2) Set 470 had been strengthened to a 4-car set with the addition of a Metro-Cammell centre car.
