(1) Rod Miebs comments:
The DMU was a Class 111 set, a Met Cam with 180bhp Rolls Royce engines rather than the standard 150bhp. The tour leaflet said that it came from Healey Mills. "I do not recall DMUs there, my 1974 shed book shows it as being Neville Hill." One of the drivers was very impressed, "this set don't half go" he said. The long stop at Ipswich was for the unit to fuel on the stabling point. The weather was cold, there was snow on the ground with flurries during the day.
