11th March 1972
British Rail
(Day Excursion) - 1, 2 or 3 trains?
Loco(s) Used | at least 118 |
Stock Used | 11 coaches |
Route : 1Z89 throughout
Loco(s) | Route |
???? | Wolverhampton - Plymouth |
???? | Plymouth - Wolverhampton |
Notes :
(1) Route & loco confirmation required. Two other charter trains are reported on
this date with the same destination (Watford Junction - Plymouth & Nottingham -
Plymouth) - could either (or both) be the same train? One of these was reported
to have suffered a loco failure at Taunton. To add to the debate Jeremy Hartill
has 118 recorded as being on a Coventry via Birmingham New Street to Plymouth
excursion, hauling 12 coaches. Jeremy's notes for the train with 118 state that
it left Birmingham New Street very late and went via Camp Hill.
