British Rail
(Merrymaker Excursion)

Loco Used 47525

Route :

Loco Route
47525 York - Selby - Leeds - Wakefield - Moorthorpe - Sheffield (2)
47525 Sheffield - Leeds - York

Notes :
(1) Route confirmation required. Was destined for Cardiff / Barry Island.
(2) Tour was turned back at Sheffield as it was three hours late already due to bad weather in the York area and there were blizzards reported in Wales.
Duncan Elsey comments: This train was memorable for an extremely long stand, in a blizzard, on the curve between South Kirby Junction and Moorthorpe whilst a class 25 (I don't remember its number) was stationary on the S&K at the same time. The re-run was a glorious day with as I remember no mishaps.
(3) Tour was re-run on 7th April 1979.
