(1) The tour brochure noted this outing as 'one of a series of tours planned by SLOA to facilitate the movement of steam locomotives to Rainhill for the Rocket 150 celebrations'. The tour brochure noted that leg from Carnforth to Manchester Victoria was originally scheduled for haulage by 850 'Lord Nelson' & 925 'Cheltenham' but, due to the non-availability of 925, was changed to be 850 'with MR Compound 1000 assisting'. The brochure further stated; in the event of 850 being unavailable, LMS 5690 'Leander' would be substituted (but this did not happen for reason(s) unexplained).
(2) Route confirmation required south of Rugby.
