Notes :
This was the first passenger carrying train of BR loco-hauled stock to run right round the Cumbrian Coast. Due to a structural problem with a bridge at Horrocksford the return route had to be altered between Hellifield and Crewe. The tour brochure carried the following statement;

STRUCTURAL FAULT IN BRIDGE AT HORROCKSFORD
As you may have heard on our recorded telephone announcement, the discovery of a serious structural problem in a bridge at Horrocksford in the last few days has meant that all locomotives have been banned from the Hellifield to Blackburn line until further notice. This train will now be diverted between Hellifield and Crewe, via Skipton (station stop), Leeds Engine Shed Junction, Normanton, Healey Mills, Diggle, Stockport (station stop at approximately 19.20) and Wilmslow. The train will not therefore call at Preston on the return journey. Charter tickets will be honoured by scheduled services between Stockport and Preston via Manchester. The Cumbrian Mountain Express steam special (which precedes us over the S&C) has been retimed and this has removed the need for our pathing stop at Appleby (which was not an advertised stop in our publicity in any event). This should enable us to be at Hellifield about 40 minutes EARLIER than shown on the timings sheet, but the lengthy diversion will consume all this and more. Consequently our set down times between Crewe and Euston are expected to be between 30 and 40 minutes LATER than shown. We apologise for the slightly later return times, but we hope you enjoy the extended tour which has resulted. Although it is not confirmed, the indications are that the Hellifield to Blackburn line will be restored to normal use in October. The cost of repairs is in excess of £100,000. (As somebody is bound to ask, the alternative of returning via Wennington was examined, but the layout at Hellifield does not allow a run-round move with a passenger train and there is no available path on the 24-mile block section west of Settle Junction to Carnforth.)
