Notes :
(1) Train worked through to Waterloo, may have changed locos en-route (Exeter
Central?). The boat was diverted to Plymouth due to a tugman's strike at
Southampton.(2) taken from 1953 Page relating to these services: Usually a 1366 pannier tank engine. Trains were load 11 but the main loco
from London removed 2 coaches including the restaurant car for the other loco to
take over for the run to the Quay. As the train was to be banked out of
Weymouth, the banking engine would push the 2 coaches onto the end of the train,
whilst the Castle would take over from the tank engine. When ready, the train
would leave, with the banking engine (unattached) pushing the train as far as
the north end of Bincombe Tunnel North.
