Can anyone confirm if Pathfinders "Paragon Paradox" on 2nd October 1994, actually went via the Cheetham Hill Loop as booked. I can't honestly remember and this would have been my only opportunity to do it. I certainly remember no letters being sent out prior, or any announcement on the train to state it wouldn't/didn't but just can't recall it. Help me please........... someone. |

Have been informed by somebody who did the tour, that it DID go via Cheetham Hill Line on outward journey from Victoria East to Thorpes Bridge Jn. Hope this is what you wanted to hear !! al |

PS According to "Railtour and Excursion Program - Early Autumn 1994" with yellow cover AND the "Railtour and Excursion Program - Early Autumn 1994" with blue cover (which was the reprint of the yellow covered program, but with Partington deleted from the "Lancastrian Mini-Excursion") The route was only listed as "Bolton - Manchester Victoria - Rochdale - Hebden Bridge etc." So that was a bonus handed out by the timing team, or it was one of those unadvertised bits of track that Pathfinder wanted to keep quiet in case it did not materialise. Personally, I would rather "hoped for" bits of track were mentioned in the advertising literature with a footnote to say that it is only "hoped for", then you can decide whether you want to part with your cash or not, depending on how likely you think the said bit of track would be covered. al |

Many thanks, Alan. Indeed I only realised it had possibly gone this way, when, some years later whilst checking back through the tour brochure I noticed the mention of "Cheethem Hill". Hence this got me thinking and everyone I seemed to ask had not done the tour or joined at Leeds later. Many thanks again for this. |
