This was one of those tours too good to miss. A "whistler" to the Kyle. We'd just got going when at Carlisle it was removed and the last we saw of it was disappearing into the distance going home on its own leaving us all behind!
But what a marvellous trip it turned out to be - OK, no "40", but arriving at the Kyle at 03.30 behind a pair of "tractors" was something to savour, it was almost surreal, like a dream. It's something I'll remember for a long time. I believe one or two bailed out at Carlisle because the "40" wasn't going - that's their choice but they missed out on an excellent railtour. I've already mentioned it to Richard SZW (Pathfinder) that perhaps a tour to the Far North or Mallaig should be next, he didn't dismiss it - and what about a NR registered 24/25/26? Or perhaps I'm dreaming again?

On the issue of those people who left the train at carlisle, which i was one. The whole point of the tour for me anyhow was to have a 40 to kyle. There was little point in me suffering a rancid over night for a pair of 37/4s in the dark in a line I have had a number of times with 37s during daylight.
