passengers travelled to and from Rotterdam by service train.
Also the itinerary mentions the Rotterdam Docks Open Day on 26 September 1987. Shuttles were being run between Rotterdam Centraal and the Delta Terminal at Masvlakte. This was an event for the general public and circular trips were available involving a boat ride from Willemsplein to Beneluxhaven by boat, bus onwards to Masvlakte and return to Rotterdam by train and vice versa.
The itinerary states that steam was to be used between Rotterdam Zuid and Masvlakte with diesel haulage between Rotterdam Centraal and Zuid.
These special trains around the Docks were a regular annual occurrence for a period of time as I travelled out at back on one of these Special excursion shuttles the previous year (27/09/86) though motive power throughout was a pair of NS 2200 diesels. They appear to have coincided with the annual Belgian Train ,Tram ,Bus weekend. |
