(1) The line between Rotterdam CS and Rotterdam Stadion was re-aligned temporarily to make way for the construction of the rail tunnel to eliminate the Maas and Koningshaven River Bridges. Rotterdam Blaak and Zuid stations would be demolished when the Tunnel was opened and replaced by undergruond stations. The nose of EMU 1205 was displayed vertically at the Tunnel visitor centre visible from Blaak station.(2)The train should have continued to the Van Leeuwen Buizen Siding on the Zwijndrecht Haven line. Unforseen Operational difficulties when the train tried to access the Branch meant this didn't occur. (3) The lines accessed from Feijenoord Yard ran through the old quarter of Rotterdam known as the Katendrecht - infamous for the services that could be obtained when the Town Centre docks were in their heyday. |
