47760 Barrow-in-Furness - Dalton Jn - (reverse of outward route) - Carnforth

Notes :
(1) Train was booked to run steam-hauled from Carnforth to Ravenglass & return, taking the Barrow-in-Furness avoiding line both ways. Eliot Andersen comments: Unfortunately, 48151 set around half a dozen fires along the lineside between Dalton and Ravenglass, including a severe one on Eskmeals Viaduct which severed communication cables and closed the line for six hours. 48151 was "grounded" at Sellafield (having taken the ECS there to reverse) and diesel locomotives from DRS at Sellafield were instead used to power the train to Barrow (a deviation from the original return route). A WCR Class 47 then rescued the train and returned it to Carnforth, arriving 3 and a half hours late.
