(1) John Clifford comments: This was the annual UK Railtours trip raising money for the British Legion Poppy Appeal. It took the 'Javelins' over some Brighton lines. After Hoo Junction we caught up the 07.39 Charing Cross - Gillingham via Bexleyheath and with extra stop at Maidstone West to pick up a crew member we were slightly late at Tonbridge. The stop here was shortened so that we reached Redhill slightly early. After Redhill we caught up the 09.27 London Bridge - Horsham, then, on the Mid Sussex line, we found that we were behind a Rail Head Treatment train. At Arundel Jn the 11.14 Littlehampton - Victoria was held for us to pass. The next part was to go to Brighton via Preston Park and we were delayed by the late running 10.32 Southampton Central - Brighton which was late. We caught it up at Worthing. After a break we continued to Hastings via Eastbourne. At Berwick we were checked (I don’t know the reason) and we were stopped at Willingdon Jn to let the 13.22 Ore - Brighton precede us. We left Hastings on time but were stopped at the south end of Mountfield Tunnel to let the 13.45 Charing Cross - Hastings come down and again south of Somerhill Tunnel for the 14.45 Charing Cross - Hastings. There was a stop outside Tonbridge. There was some pathing allowance in the schedule so we were early at this stage. At Otford Jn we stopped to let the 15.10 Ashford - Victoria go ahead. There was some slow running after Chislehurst which meant that after Lee we followed the 16.10 Charing Cross - Dartford instead of it following us. We left Rochester almost on time and reached London St Pancras just a minute late.
