(1) Stuart Gamble comments: The fare was 9 shillings. This tour had a record attendance of over 200 passengers, making it the best attended provincial railtour so far. The original plan for a 2 coach set hauled by a Webb 2-4-2T was changed to a 4 coach set and a class 2 tank! The whole of the tour was over lines closed to passenger traffic, apart from the short section on the Leicester – Burton line.
