SLS members were invited to travel on this train.
(2) Photographic evidence confirms 40416 (tender-first) at East Wirksworth on 4x
corridor coaches and 43618 on same stock at Middleton Top (but more likely to
have been Friden). Tony Robinson adds: I recently purchased a photo of 43618 on
this tour, reporting No M990, at Harpur Hill on the Cromford and High Peak Line.
The train is halted at a wired off establishment with army style huts, probably
Air Ministry No.26 MU (Maintenance Unit) with some standard gauge vans visible.
26MU closed around 1961. The train has 3 BR Mark 1 coaches, one with a brake
section and one elderly clerestorey coach.
