(1) Bob Mitchell comments: The North East Industrial visit lasted over two days. Dorman Long & Co Ltd, Cleveland Works was visited on morning of 18th May, where over 50 locos were present. In the afternoon the firms Acklam and Britannia Works were visited. Day ended with a visit to Skinningrove Iron Co Ltd at Carlin How, where locomotives from 10 different builders were recorded. On Sunday 19th the party toured ICI Billingham rail network, hauled by 25 'Tees' & 39 'Taw' and also visited the rail control room.
