Notes :
(1) Route confirmation required - above is from advertised times.
Passengers from Greenford were to use a service train to join the outward
special at West Ealing. On the return leg any passengers who had left the train
at Maidenhead or Cookham would have to make their own way to Bourne End to join
the return special.
(2) 'Watford-type electric compartment set' given against an
original routing of New Cross Gate to Paddington (Suburban) & back. Was this the
only tube stock used?
(3) The advertising sheet carried the following notes: 'Conducted Rambles
(optional) will be arranged with the usual catering facilities. It is hoped to
include a river trip for some of the parties at extra fare. This excursion is
also suitable for NON-WALKERS. Boats may be hired at a number of points and
suitable connections will be made with Salter Bros vessels of which details will
be distributed on the train so passengers may enjoy some of the finest river
scenery, including the famous CLIVEDEN REACH.
(4) It was possible to purchase tickets from the stations at
New Cross Gate, Aldgate East, Moorgate (Met.) & King's Cross (Met.) and
from the other stations on the day from 20 minutes to 5 minutes prior to
departure time, or in advance from G.R. Lockie if remittance and an addressed
envelope was received no later than 31st July 1958.
