(1) The above may represent the outward leg of one day excursion and the return leg of another - Ian Umpleby believes there may have been a second excursion over the same route as this would then explain the different locos, stock and stopping pattern - confirmation required, can someone verify having one of the locos both ways, or the same locos but in the reverse order? The stops at Blackburn and Preston were to pick up passengers as there was plenty of room on the train.
