(1) Passengers de-trained at Hebden Bridge for buses to Oxenhope on the K&WVR, re-joining the tour at Keighley.
(2) Alan Gears comments: Famous for a passenger stand out at Doncaster and a very fast return run to London. One of the carriage's lights failed on the outward journey. This was not fixed at Leeds. B.R. refused to repair at Doncaster crew change stop so we all got off the train. They eventually obtained new batteries and we were on our way. But not until various London bound expresses were diverted to other platforms. I understand that we may have exceeded 95m.p.h. down the E.C.M.L. as we were duly stopped by a hot box. Not bad with 13 on. I have an idea that 47479 ran out of fuel between Exeter and Plymouth (confirmation someone please?).
