(1) 99953 was only in the consist when 60800 was on the train.

(3) On outward route it had originally been planned to run via Sunderland but
this was not possible due to subsidence and imposed axle-load limitations.
Delays in the Durham area on the return working were caused by a storm which led
to a power/signalling failure. Mike Harries comments: At
19:30 the Deltic was still at the rear of the train at York, and there was only
one unoccupied platform. All signals north of York seemed to be out of action
– the steam train was the last one into York from the north – there had been
a spectacular thunderstorm behind us as we ran through Durham.
