Notes :
(1) Off train options;
Group 1: 'will be spending their entire time at Carnforth Steamtown - the only
authentic main line steam locomotive depot in Britain. It is expected that a
former L.N.E.R. express engine will be in steam. There will be ample time in
which to view and photograph the varied collection of over twenty steam
locomotives'.
Group 2: 'will spend over an hour at Steamtown before continuing in our special
train to Ulverston. Buses leave immediately for the Haverthwaite Station of the
Lakeside Railway. Our steam hauled train departs at 14.20 for its picturesque
journey along the beuatiful River Leven valley to the terminus alongside Lake
Windermere. Arriving at 14.40 there will be time for sight-seeing before leaving
Lakeside at 15.40. Returning to Haverthwaite by 16.00 there will be further time
for viewing and photographing the collection of locomotives and rolling stock
before the buses leave at 18.00 for Ulverston'.
Group 3: 'will spend over an hour at Steamtown before continuing in our special
train to Ravenglass. Two special steam hauled trains will be provided at 14.45
and 14.55 arriving at Dalegarth 15.25 and 15.35 respectively. The return time of
the first special will depend on the weather conditions prevailing on the day
and it will be clearly indicated at Dalegarth. The second special, however, will
depart at 16.35 and on arrival there will be a little time for sight-seeing
before joining the main train. (Your B.R. ticket us also valid for Steamtown and
to Dalegarth)'.
Group 4: 'leaves the train at Carnforth and joins the waiting coaches. Touring
via Levens Bridge and Newby Bridge then alongside Coniston Water to Conniston
Village (12.45 - 13.15); continuing vua Ambleside and Thirlmere Water with views
of Helvellyn (3118 ft.) to the tight before reaching Keswick on Derwent Water
(14.00 + 15.00). We continue via Threlkeld to the Glenridding Hotel overlooking
Lake Ullswater (15.30 - 17.00). Passing Petterdale and through to Kirkstone Pass
a short stop will be made at Windermere (17.30 - 18.00) before returning via
Kendal to Carnforth'.
(2) Route & loco confirmation required. A class 50 was photographed at
Ravenglass on this train - did it take over from an AC Electric at Carnforth, or
